Polar Bear Plunge

The start of Spring mean the Polar Bear Plunge cannot be far behind. This extremely popular event has been transitioned to an ECU Tradition. The jump began in 1997 commemorating the opening of the Eakin Student Recreation Center with only 35 jumpers and has grown to over 1,000 jumpers 20 years later. Polar Bear jumpers brave the bitter temperatures and leap into the frigid icy waters of the outdoor pool in the heart of January with the lure of a T-shirt.

Beach Fest

Beach Fest is held at the North Recreational Complex each year in the fall semester. Beach Fest was created to showcase CRW’s, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, zip lining, beach activities, and much more!

Spring Fest

After a long winter indoors, students look forward to spending more time outside and that’s why Spring Fest was started. Spring Fest host a multitude of activities at the North Recreational Complex to include, over 40 club sport demos, music, inflatables, outdoor fitness, zip lining, nutritional samples, and much more! This is an opportunity for the ECU community to become familiar with outdoor opportunities available.
