Exciting News! ECU Student Affairs is Reorganizing

ECU’s Department of Student Affairs has made the decision to reorganize and create a new unit that will be called “Health and Well-Being”. This change comes in an effort to offer greater support for the mental/physical health and well-being of the student body.

Effective July 1, 2022, this reorganization will include Campus Recreation & Wellness, the Center for Counseling and Student Development, and Student Health Services, and will be guided by Dr. LaNika Wright as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Health and Well-Being. Dr. Wright will also continue to serve in the role as Director in Student Health and will join the Student Affairs Executive council.

Dr. LaNika Wright joined the health center staff in July 2004. She earned her BS in Nursing at East Tennessee State University. She later attended UNC Chapel Hill where she earned her MSN and was certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner through the National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties. She earned her PhD from East Carolina University in 2014. Her interests include Women’s Health, STI counseling and health promotion and prevention.

We are excited to be a part of this reorganization and we look forward to the opportunities that it will allow us to provide our students. Please see the attached memorandum from Dr. Hardy for more information on this transition.
