Can I climb at the wall if I am not an ECU student or CRW member?

If you are not a current student or CRW member there are still some options that will allow you access to the climbing wall. You can come in as someone’s guest and pay the $10.00 facility guest fee. If you are ineligible to purchase a CRW membership, you can purchase a Community Climbing pass for $50.00 a semester which gives you access to just the climbing wall (no other area of the Eakin Rec Center). Or you can reserve the Climbing wall for a private event.

Is there an age limit on the Climbing Wall?

No, but minor climbers must be able to fit into a harness (minimum weight for our child harnesses is 25 lbs.) and must be accompanied by their legal guardian.

What if the weather is bad on the day of the trip?

Adventure Staff will notify each participant either via email or by phone if we need to cancel a trip. Trips are usually not canceled until the day before or the day of the event.

What is your Trip Refund Policy?

ECU Adventure Program reserves the right to cancel a program due to inclement weather, natural disasters, or extenuating circumstances. In the event, the ECU Adventure Program must cancel a program, a full trip refund will be provided. Should a participant choose to cancel a program, the full cost of the trip will be refunded if the ECU Adventure Program is notified of cancellation fourteen (14) calendar days prior to any overnight trips’ departure date or seven (7) days before any day trips’ departure date. Any cancellation inside of these dates is ineligible for a refund unless the participant has provided a valid excuse such as hospitalization, family emergency or some other form of unforeseen hardship, which shall be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Zero Tolerance Policy

The ECU Adventure Program does not permit the use or possession of alcohol, firearms or illegal drugs while participating in activities or trips within the program. In signing this document, I/my child am/is agreeing to abide by this policy while participating in an ECU Adventure Program-sponsored activity. If I/my child use/s illegal drugs, alcohol or firearms, I understand that I/my child will be immediately removed from the trip or activity and may face additional disciplinary action upon my return to East Carolina University. I further understand that should I/my child be removed from a trip or activity, I will be held responsible for all costs (which may be substantial, including additional airfare, taxis, etc.) incurred during my/my child’s return to East Carolina University.
