Stay Focused While You Study!

Have you ever glanced down at your phone, looked up, and realized you wasted the past hour scrolling on TikTok? Getting distracted when trying to focus on a task is a hard feat and so many things can lead us astray from our main goal. Distractions can lead to procrastination, and eventually, no work will get done. The following are some tips and tricks to avoid distraction that can help you stay focused on what needs to get done:

1. Try to get rid of the distractions from the beginning. Leave your phone at home or in the car before you begin to study. Leaving your device in your vehicle will force you to not give in to the temptations of checking social platforms.

2. Get enough sleep. Oftentimes procrastination stems from a tired mind and body. To combat this, get enough sleep-in effort to refuel your body. Sleep can foster a more motivated individual, ready to get their work done effectively.

3. Practice the Pomodoro technique. This technique has been proven to help with more effective studying. Set a timer for 25 minutes of work for each task. Then take a 5-minute break. Repeat this until you finish all tasks.

4. Put a lock on on-screen times for social media apps. This will lock you out once you have used up your time. As a result, you are on your phone less, getting rid of the distraction.

5. Eat three balanced meals every day. Balanced meals often go ignored when individuals skip breakfast or dinner but doing so is not helpful. Eating meals throughout the day will help you stay awake and energized to complete your tasks.

Distractions and feelings of procrastination are hard to combat and will take time to break. Surely these tips will help you eliminate or better some of these distracting and time-consuming habits. Practice these tips over time, hopefully, you have found them helpful. Good luck Pirates!
