Fresh Check Day

Mental Health Awareness

In case you missed our Live Fresh Check Day sessions, you can still participate and be eligible for prizes up until Tuesday, Oct. 13 by watching our recorded videos and completing the post event evaluation. If you only have time to watch 1 video, make it the “9 Out of 10” video and learn how to recognize signs of crisis in friends and family.
Video links can be found at the bottom of the page.

The post event evaluation has 2-3 questions per video and your name will go into our prize drawing pool based on the number of videos you evaluate.  The Grand Prize is a Kindle Fire 7 and we have several special prize packs based on the individual videos as well as t-shirts and other Fresh Check giveaways. In addition, you can get entered into a $20 amazon gift card drawing by completing the Jordon Porco Foundation survey.

Fresh Check Day is an uplifting mental health promotion and suicide prevention event that includes interactive virtual booths that aim to create an approachable and hopeful atmosphere where students are encouraged to engage in dialogue about mental health and help to build a bridge between students and the mental health resources available on campus, in the community, and nationally.

ECU hosted Fresh Check Day— a concept created by The Jordan Porco Foundation and designed to bring the whole campus community together to “check-in” on the mental health and wellness of college students. The event has been organized by Athletics, Campus Living, Campus Recreation and Wellness, Center for Counseling and Student Development, Dean of Students Office, Department of Psychology, and the Women and Gender Office with collaborating campus departments at ECU, student volunteers, and representatives of The Jordan Porco Foundation.

The booths feature peer-to-peer messaging in a positive, community-focused setting. This year’s event will include a yoga session, a game show experience, discussions on how to relieve stress, among other things.
