We're here to help you THRIVE!
ECU Employee Well-Being Institute (EWI)
It’s easy to fall into the routine of work, household chores, caregiving, sleep, and repeat, often forgetting to prioritize self-care. Perhaps you’ve mastered most of it, but there’s that one new habit you’re struggling to develop. Whether you’re aiming to make positive changes, enhancing self-care practices, or simply curious about well-being, we invite you to join us for the ECU Employee Well-being Institute (EWI).
Based on Gallup’s Five Essential Elements of Well-being, EWI offers an engaging and interactive in-person experience. These elements encompass:
- Career: Finding fulfillment in your daily activities.
- Social: Nurturing quality relationships.
- Financial: Securing your financial future.
- Physical: Maintaining independence in daily life.
- Community: Feeling safe and contributing to your community.
The institute follows the principles of Discover, Explore, Live and will be hosted in person at the HR Annex. Ample parking is available, and these live sessions offer a chance to disconnect and focus on your well-being for a few hours. The program starts with a rapport-building session to connect with your cohort and set intentions for the program and beyond. Each session delves into a different well-being element through education (Discover), discussion, and activities (Explore). We aim for you to adopt lasting practices in your daily life (Live), become Well-Being Champions for the University, and inspire others through your journey.
This program is open to all ECU SHRA, EHRA, and CSS employees. Sessions run every Tuesday from 10:00 am to 12 noon, starting September 17 and concluding on November 12, 2024 (no session on October 22). With 168 hours in a week, investing 2 hours with us is a small commitment that will pay off. After all, you deserve to prioritize yourself!
Participants are expected to attend at least 80% of sessions, with attendance at the first session mandatory to continue in the class. Registration opens on August 15 in Cornerstone. Reach out to Suzanne McDonald (mcdonalds@ecu.edu) for more information.
