We're here to help you THRIVE!

ECU Employee Well-Being Institute (EWI)

It is easy to get caught up in the day to day monotony of work, household duties, caregiving, sleep, repeat that you forget to take care of yourself.  Or maybe you have it all down but there is that one new habit that you are trying to create that is eluding you. Whether you are trying to make habit changes, wanting to learn how to take better care of yourself, or you are simply curious about well-being, then join us for the ECU Employee Well-being Institute (EWI).

The EWI is based off Gallup’s Five Essential Elements of Well-being and is designed to be in person, engaging, and interactive.

 The elements include:

  • Career – How you occupy your time during the day and is it fulfilling.
  • Social – The quality of relationships in your life.
  • Financial – Your financial security.
  • Physical – Being able to live an independent life
  • Community – Feeling safe and involved in giving back to your community

The course will be taught on the principles of Discover, Explore, Live and will be offered in person at the HR Annex.  Parking will be plentiful and the live sessions allow you to disconnect and focus on your personal well-being for a few hours. The series kicks off with a rapport building session so you get to know your cohort and you will set intentions for the remainder of the program (and beyond). Each session is an exploration into a new element of well-being and will consist of education (discover), discussion and activity (explore).  Through the exploration process, our hope is you will adopt practices that will become a part of their daily life (live), become Well-Being Champions for the University, and promote well-being to others through your lived experiences.

This program is open to all ECU SHRA, EHRA, and CSS employees. The sessions meet every Wednesday from 10:30 am – 12 noon beginning Wednesday, February 1 and concluding on Wednesday, March 22. The first and last sessions will begin at 10:00 am and we will not meet on March 8.  You have 168 hours in the week, so take 1.5 hours to join us, you will be glad that you did.  And let’s face it, you deserve to prioritize yourself!

Participants need to be able to commit to attending 80% of the sessions, with attendance required at the first session to stay in the class.  Register in Cornerstone.
