The Blunt Truth

While we may remain socially distanced, we must stay connected. David “AJ” Modlin joins Nia as they discuss getting involved and organized in college when first beginning at ECU.

Come to college with an idea of what you’d like to do, but know it is okay to change your mind. Consider all of your options when you step on campus, socially and academically. Learn what works for you, and what you’re passionate about. You’re here to figure things out, and you never know who you’ll impact. Before you know it, you’ll blink and be a few steps away from graduation.


Senior Year Is Here

All things reach an end, so what’s after college? CRW Marketing Employees, Malinda Massey and Jennifer Godwin, share how they’ve gotten through their senior year thus far, what they look forward to, and how they plan to prepare for their job search as graduation approaches. Join us this episode as they share some tips and tricks for seniors on how to be successful during their last year in as an undergraduate student.  


Working In College

Working as a student can help you figure out what you want and how are you going to get there through the skills you acquire. No matter if it’s a job you find locally or on campus, the experiences you have now can help you later in life. Think about what you are doing, and the purpose behind why you are doing things. Whether you work, volunteer or join a club – frame your future.

Hannah Stevens and Natalie Pray join Nia to discuss how you can open up new doors by working a job while in college. Build connections, gain experience, and never stop learning from the people you meet.

Don’t fear the day you have to be on your own. As Hispanic students attending a university, Oswaldo & Dania reflect on the challenges they have faced & always continue to push forward.

Dania & Oswaldo share their experience with friendships, networking, the daily grind to reach their goals, and breaking barriers as children of immigrant parents. Even through times of uncertainty, a go-getter mindset will help you accomplish just about anything. 


Sin Miedo: Fearless Part 2

College is hard, life is harder. If you don’t work hard for what you want, someone else will. Don’t fear the unknown because there’s opportunity behind every closed door, and remember – networking is everything. Get in touch with us at campusrec@ecu.ecu.

Always ask questions, because knowing someone can help you more than you know. Find happiness in your present while investing in your future. While staying true to yourself throughout this entire process may be difficult, don’t lose yourself and don’t only stick with what you know. Open your mind, open your heart. Have faith that you can accomplish anything and have anything you truly desire.

Polar Bear Plunge

The 25th Annual Polar Bear Plunge is scheduled to take place February 25th, 2021 from 5-10pm at the outdoor pool of the ESRC. To register and for more information visit crwregistration.ecu.edu on February 8th.

Celebrate the opening of the Eakin Student Recreation Center in 1997 and come Live The Tradition. February 25th, 2021 will mark the 25th Annual Polar Bear Plunge! Registration for this event will open up Monday, February the 8th. The first 300 plungers will be guaranteed a free t-shirt after taking the plunge. Student Binta Touray and Dr. Gregory Corack share more about this event, its significance and why it is so special to the ECU community. 


Dating In College – Part 1

You live and you learn, but no matter what happens, always do what is best for you. Hunter Smith joins Nia to find that dating in college can be whatever you want it to be.

Does anyone actually know what they’re doing? What is love? What is realistic? Most importantly, are you happy and are you doing what is best for you? There may be no real rules to this whole dating thing but one thing is for sure – everything makes a little more sense with a little time.

Hunter Smith and Nia continue their conversation about getting to know other people at a young age, their feelings along the way, and share different perspectives regarding boundaries and dating in college. Maybe even learn some tips and tricks. 


The ESRC: Not Just A Gym

Former Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Director of CRW, Nance Mize, shares some of CRW’s history and speaks on how The Eakin Student Recreation Center came to fruition.

Nance Mize shares her perspective on the ten years it took to open up the doors of the Student Recreation Center at ECU. The SRC opened it’s doors to students in 1997, its grand opening came with many challenges. The SRC has recently been renamed to honor Richard R. Eakin and his wife, JoAnn. Eakin was ECU’s fourth chancellor and played a major role in adding the SRC on campus.

La plática incluye temas de sus días normales, de las dificultades que enfrentaron, como se involucraron en la escuela afuera de sus círculos, y así compartir sus experiencias con otros estudiantes y sus padres.
